I got approved H1-B notice on 30th Dec 2008 from CSC. My previous expired H1-B date ends with 02/14/2009, but my current newly approved one starts with 02/26/2009. So there is a gap of 11 days between those. Currently I'm on job. Does it really means out-of-status?. Do I need to run February pay check with less hours and officially in vacation?.
Please advice me.

I have been trying to access the mexico visa appointment website at http://visa-usa.com.mx but it is not available for the past fortnight. Is it down or has it changed to a new website. Could please someone let me know. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I came across this particular requirement in VFS website for a H4 applicant:
'letter from employer that describes the relationship with the Principal Applicant and the purpose of travel'
I would really appreciate it if anybody has a sample of the same or an inkling as to what exactly it is (as far as I know, the employer can provide an employment verification letter, but not stating that the spouse is applying for a dependent visa and so on).

I know its not required to have SSN for starting the job from 10/01/2007. I am eager to know if we can apply for SSN before this date or do we need to wait until Oct 1st. Thanks

Ah. It doesn't end even if you get the GC! I agree with the others - go for the interview fully prepared with all the documents including your GC. Even though you have the feeling "what if they revoke it?", it is best to comply with the laws and respect the interview notice.
You can call them up or infopass if you have some time before the interview.

Sorry to hear about your situation. You are out of status the minuet you lost your job and the 180 days clock has already started ticking i.e. out of status for more then 180 days and still in the country may result in 5 yr entry ban.
I don't want to scare you but just sharing the law details.
Now you best course of action would be to get a job ASAP and get your H1 transferred. For this process immigration will ask for your last pay stub and if there is a big gap then they might reject your visa but again it is hard to say anything as it totally depends upon the officer.
Also, hire a good attorney if you can.
Staying in the US after losing a job on H1 is a gray area, especially when you have a valid i-94 hence getting a good attorney is very important.
Also, you might want to look at student visa or visitor visa to maintain your legal status.

On subsequent (multiple employers, same employer) you dont come under the cap like fromnaija said
once H1 is approved it is valid, Once you start working for that employer you shall get paid for it (it doesnt mean you'll have to work if you have a H1)
It does not invalidate the other H1 (till the other employer revokes it) - hope this answers your question

I am a UK citizen brought up in India. I am in US now working on H1-B. Since I plan to return to India after few years for good, I decided to apply for OCI(overseas citizens of India)/dual citizenship of India.
I will have to apply for green card after few years to maintain my employee status here in USA.
Now, the question is, will I get privilege if I am UK citizen compared to dual citizen of India when I apply for US green card?
If I get any privilege(like quicker processing time, etc) I will just get a visitor's visa/PIO card of India for now.
Please advice. I am really confused. Thank you.

Unfortunately, we cannot search by name. You may want to provide keywords used in your question so members can find your question. I have searched for all questions related to legal immigration in all categories and weighed my opinion one way or another.
Let's hope the IV core takes up this issue and writes up a carefully crafted question so we can all benefit from the resulting voting.

If you have e-mails that's good enough. No need to be scared, if you feel that you have not done anything illegal there is nothing to be afraid of. If your prev. employer starts to threaten in any way play it smart and try and get him to write e-mails, you can use that against him. Always consult a lawyer first to discuss the pro's and cons.
